With a sigh, ADA Connie Hathaway walked through the graveyard. She couldn't escape it, she had tried and it had ended in the deaths of nearly everyone she had loved. She couldn't deny it and she kind of didn't want to think about what if she slipped and let things happen again.
It was around nine o clock at night, england was not always quiet at this time but this part of the country was, the graveyard full of the dead or in some cases the undead was so quiet to the point that it was sending shivers down the prosecutor's spine. She put her hair out of her eyes as she looked around, alert but weary.
"I should've never..." but before she could finish she felt a vampire grab her at the back and try and twist her arm. She was a bit rusty because of the training or rather...the lack there of. She turned and managed to turn the vampire on its back and put the stake through. "That...was close" she muttered as she now began to actually start walking around, after all... she couldn't sit in one place forever like a bump on a log could she?

Some of the slayers were discussing or rather arguing about weapons, and who got to use what back at HQ. The watchers council had never had to prepare so many slayers at once before, and it was not well equipped to give every girl 'a super cool weapon' Giles had only recently started to order more supplies. However this was not an argument Buffy was willing to be a part of. She left the training room argument to find peace, and the best place for that was the graveyard.
She had her trusty stake, it was more efficient then a crossbow any ways, the younger slayers could have their pick. She heard a struggle and turned the corner just in time to see a vamp get dusted. She almost sighed, she had really hoped to kill something to night, but another slayer had beaten her to it. A slayer she didn't know. This one wasn't wearing cut off baby doll tank tops, or low rise jeans like most of the other girls. Oh how Buffy missed fashion, and cute little outfits.
After failing to recognize the girl she followed her for a few seconds before showing herself, being careful not to jump out of the bushes and started the girl. "It's only close if the fangs touch your neck," she said casually. "You did pretty good back there, all that was missing was a good pun," she noted, trying to be nice, even though it was obvious the girl needed a bit more training. There was definitely potential.

Turning around, she saw Buffy, this wasn't a suprise. She would've almost hoped that she wouldn't have to be in this graveyard alone tonight. "Actually, my watcher would've screamed bloody murder...actually no...he's very understanding he would've not been happy with me though I'll tell you that...Assistant district Attorney former U.S New York prosecutor Connie..." she put out her hand for Buffy to shake. "and thanks, Its a good thing to still know that I have it in me...somehwat"
She wasn't the type to talk a lot but she didn't know why she was talking now. She was a very hostile girl espeically if you saw her in the courtroom pacing in front of the witness stand but this wasn't a courthouse and she was not doing a trial so she thought she could be just a bit relaxed then she had been.
"I take it you know this stuff...plunging and stakeing..." she guessed as she looked at Buffy putting her hand up to brush her hair out of her eyes. Her skirt blew just lightly in the light wind through the night.

Buffy took the hand that was offered and shook it politely. "I'll just stick to Connie," she said, impressed by the long title, even though she had little clue what it meant. It had been quite some time since Buffy had talked to anyone she had never met before, she couldn't remember a night where she wasn't locked up doing research, training the girls, or fighting. It was nice to meet new people, if not confusing.
And on that note, some one that didn't know who she was! "Sorry, I'm Buffy...just Buffy, no interesting job titles," she nodded, and half smiled. "It's kinda my thing, the... plunging and stakeing..." It wasn't like she had much else going on for the past decade, especially in the past year. She had given up having a 'life' long ago back in Sunnydale. "And you....you look like you've dusted a few in your day?" Buffy asked, knowing that the girl had obvious skill, but she was curious on just how often she used that skill.

"Started when I was around teenage ish, thirteen, fifteen...around there...I stopped altogether when I grew older, before persuing law and all but now...I'm forced to return to it...not that I have a choice in the matter as I've been told countless times now...but I just want to conteanue and pursue long enough to go and finish some unfinished business" she looked away not wanting to think about her brother let alone mention him.
She would keep that secret as best she could, although she would have no choice but to explain herself if and when Buffy found out who or what exackly her brother was. "I...I've heard of you...my foster father was a watcher...er...is since he's not dead but that's beside the point...he told me bedtime stories sorta..." she laughed gently. "I had issues falling asleep when I was first in their home...and the stories of you and your friends...don't ask how he knows...I think your watcher may know him but can't be sure...they put me to sleep"

"Yeah, theres always a catch...they lure you in with promises of girl power and super strength...it's not like you really have a choice in the matter... With the slayer thing," she said, trying to make enough small talk to win the girl over, possibly make a friend, the position for enemy was full...over flowing actually.
"Bed time stories huh? Glad my near death experiences and saving the world made you sleepy," She said trying to be nice, and cheerful, she didn't think her life was all that boring, the opposite actually. Except it was severely lacking on the fun part, there wasn't much of that going around. "I think all watchers talk, to them the 'Slayers Of Our Lives' dramas are probably pretty exciting. Other then that all they have to look forward to is their next cup of tea, and buying new rags to clean their glasses......" She paused. "Or maybe that was just my watcher," she said, attempting to not sound like a crazy person.

"Well....yeah but I've also been told I've done things no one has no one of the slayer life...because of my own and off slayage thing I made friends, I had a couple lovers and of course I had a career...actually my career is what got me here now..." she explained. She didn't want to explain the other reason for her being here but she knew it would not be too long before Buffy put it together.
"Yeah I loved adventure stories...when I was good he would tell me more stories...sometimes they scared me but most times they were inspirational...they kept me going throughout all my troubles and trust me I had a lot of it" she sighed as she looked around the graveyard. "looks pretty quiet...but looks can be decieving...I think I found a friend already" she turned smileing at Buffy. "I mean...its been a long time since I made a friend in anyone really my collegues from the D.A's office...and my foster family but other then that....yeah besides, I've always wanted to meet you and your group of friends" she could've said gang but she knew that would sound very wrong since that was kind of a wrong term to use for Buffy and her friends.

Buffy listened to the girl as she spoke, clearly the girl was alone, or at least she assumed. Lost in her own world of law, where she could escape the slayage and pretend to be a normal girl. Buffy envied her in a way, but she had long given up on being normal. "Bet you never would have guessed your life would turn into one of those scary adventure stories?" Buffy walked through the graveyard with the other slayer, listening to her stories, twirling her stake through her fingers. "Do you wish you could have just stayed there, at your job, and not had this...." she paused to search for the right word. "Sacred duty?"
(Sorry for the shortness, I'm to tired to reply but I wanted to at least leave you something)

"I thought law was a way for me to get away from the supernatrauls but after some incidents I'm not so sure anymore...basically long story being short I'm here to start a new life and face some of my old demons in the process and plus if I'm here and the thing's after me he'd come here instead of attacking innocent people in Manhattan at my job...he almost got my collegues and a judge killed the last time around..."
Turning she gripped her stake tighter as she swifley looked around. After doing a quick thinking she realied she wasn't alone...they weren't alone. "Buffy...." she warned just as about a dozen vampires came at them. Staking the one nearest to her she lost her balance at the last minute falling on her ass she managed to regroup herself and get up enough and fight again.

"Facing old demons, and new ones," Buffy added, keeping her eye out for said 'new demons'. "Wait what?" she asked, trying to catch up on what the girl had just said, wasn't she just talking about escaping emotional demons and not just literal ones? "Who will come here?" Buffy asked, kicking herself into full slayer mode. She hadn't known the woman long, just long enough to know she was a friend, and she wasn't going to let anyone hurt her.
"This always happens when someone says something interesting," she said tightening her hold on her stake, they couldn't have come earlier...no...they had to wait until they were in the middle of a discussion. Buffy waited for them to charge her, not wanting to waste energy running to the inevitable. She twirled her stake around before running it through the vampire's chest as it ran straight into her. "Well that was easy," she shrugged, before giving a roundhouse kick to the next vampire in line, just waiting to be dusted. Every now and then checking on Connie, who seemed to handling herself.

Around ten vampires were left and Connie didn't know what to do. She tried to think and act at the same time which wasn't working too well. "All right I know how to do all this and make it fast and..." she stopped saying things and just shut up for a moment. After awhile she concontraited, letting her inner witch as pathetic as her witchy powers were...take control of herself, she needed to get rid of them fast and she wanted to she didn't know...make them go away without staking them. After she opened her eyes and let herself go, the scene was exackly as she invisioned there was fire everywhere one minute and screams too...but the next second there was silence.
"Buffy are you ok?" she asked panting and triyng ot collect herself once more. Sitting on a tombstone she said. "Its a small witchy thing I learned from my watcher...my foster father...he told me whenever there were more than three vampires...I get rid of them all...fast...."

Buffy was staking a vamp, and then suddenly there were no more vamps to stake. "What the hell?" she asked, looking around, confusion painted across her face. As the dust and ash fell to the ground beneath. She raised her stake, about to ask again what happened, but her mouth was wide open and she couldn't process words. "What the hell?" she said again.
She pouted a tiny bit. "I wish Giles would have shown me that, it might have saved me a huge bill on dry cleaning, and alcohol," she said, sad to know that all her wounds, and ruined clothes could have been saved. "So howd you lean to do that, is that all you can do?" Buffy asked, putting her stake away, feeling that her trusty stake was outdated. It seemed using stakes wasn't what the cool kids were doing anymore.

The prosecutor sighed. "no, this isn't all I can do...but hey I still need to keep a bit of suprise right?" she asked with a smirk. Turning around she made her way out of the place and said. "Come on, I have a hotel room we can talk there this is not going good for either of us...you'll have to excuse the mess I just moved in not too long ago and barely unpacked" she said as she led Buffy out of the graveyard and towards the hotel.
As she walked she looked around left and right taking in everything. At the mention of Giles the watcher she said. "I'd like to meet him someday...you and him seemed most interesting to me...from the stories I've been told...oh and Willow...I mean the stories I were told they basically had me believing half the time that you guys were some superheros on the WB network or something...especially since my father could draw....I promised myself that if I ever got out of my house I would meet all of you...well I guess my dream's coming true"

Buffy shrugged and followed the slayer, figuring that she had already seen all the excitement she was going to see for one night. Sadly. "Well the thing about stories is that they get over exaggerated, unless you hear it from the horses mouth," she paused. "Well sometimes even then you can't be completely sure whats true," she giggled. According to the young slayers the vampires kept doubling in size every night, each night the vamps were bigger and meaner then the last.
"Besides, most of our friends end up dead, even me, so be careful what you wish for!" she warned, not meaning for it to come out the way it did, but it was to late to take the words back now. "I just mean, I'm a danger magnet, so be careful, not that you shouldn't always be careful.......how much farther is it?" She said trying to recover from her earlier remark which could have been taken badly.

"Not much far, as far as talking in whatever way....don't worry about it I heard far worse things from my collegues and superiors and besides...congress can't stop your freedom of speech...oh sorry" she giggled a little after she said that. "my um...its the prosecutor in me..." she laughed some more before opening the door to the hotel and walking to her room. Opening the place with her key she let Buffy in.
"Well...its not much but...its home" she said sitting down on the bed. "hopefully after being at work for a couple month I would be able to afford some nice stuff...since I virtually left EVERYTHING back home" she said with a grin. "Do you want something...coke, sprite...what have you?" she asked turning towards the little fridge that was there.
