Current Motivation: To help prevent the rising of great evil she has foreseen and hopefully find a way to control or shut off her Sight along the way.
History: Approximately 29 years ago Kylie Crawford was born to a loving mother. She was a home birth, delivered into the care of a very peculiar and quite antiquated sisterhood, a coven of witches that consisted of her grandmother and many more female relatives. Their family was descended from an old, magical heritage and was dedicated to preserving the rites and methods by which each generation was fostered and instructed. From the moment she could walk and talk, Kylie was taught in the Old Ways, and learned to respect and pay homage to the Goddess.
Although she was always aware that she was conceived by a man bedding her mother, she had no contact with her father throughout her formative years. Instead, her time was spent in the company of her Sisters, studying different types of magic and skills that provided for and protected the community of self-styled "priestesses." Education was a matter of pride among the girls, who were encouraged to learn as much as they could on all types of topics--from scholastic to astronomy, tarot, etc. The Crawfords, especially, were not completely isolated from the normal world or civilization, but except for brief forays outside for shopping trips, Kylie could have counted the number of times she was away from her extended family on one hand.
Her early life encompassed more than just lessons and studying, however. The women of the family upheld traditions and holy days that had faded from the greater outside world centuries ago. They danced for Samhain, observed vigils on the equinox, and instilled in each of their daughters the will to discover and nurture their own potential. For Kylie, that path led to her discovering ways to sharpen and focus her foresight. It was a gift her family had borne for as long as anyone could remember and something of value to more than just those inside their community. By the time she was approaching womanhood and her final initiation into the fold, Kylie was offered a choice--either to sign her life over to service of the Goddess or to be given the freedom to explore the outside world.
It was in no way a death sentence or dramatic case of exile since she had been baptized under the light of the new moon and would always be welcome to return to the community, but it was a momentous decision in Kylie's personal life. After weeks of deliberation, going back and forth between her options, Kylie finally decided to take a chance and left the safety of the home she had known all her life. She was well provided for and given lengthy instructions to ensure her transition to living alone and pure culture shock would not overcome her resolution. With many tearful farewells, she departed from the safety of the flock to discover what the Goddess had in store for her.
Eventually, Kylie acclimated to her new life and discovered another passion to devote herself to: dancing. She began as a student, then as an instructor, before finally branching out with a group of friends/business partners to open her own studio. Midway through construction, Kylie received a warning from the Coven. They had rightly feared Kylie had allowed herself to become distracted and neglect her powers. When she finally did take the time to reconnect to her mystical roots, Kylie was shaken by what she saw.
Even from halfway around the world, she could sense the evil forces that had risen in California. She did not consider it her business or duty, then, to enter the impending battle. But after two months of consecutive visions of apocalypse and scenes of fire and brimstone, she could no longer ignore it. Two days later, she was contacted by her mother and asked to join a convention of their family joining with the Witches' Coven in England.
Although she was one of the later arrivals, Kylie made it in time to find shelter from the release of power when the Slayer line was rewritten. Since that time, she has not strayed too far from the Coven's primary headquarters. Although they are not the same women she grew up with, they share the same bonds of Sisterhood and she needs their help to recover from the horrible visions that stalk her night and day.
